There is nothing that would suggest the owner of S & K Music is like his namesake, cold blooded, quick to strike or slithery. Upon first meeting with Snake Rock, he is quite the opposite, warm-hearted, genuine and an all-around down to earth guy. But one can catch glimpses of his past, which tells the story of someone who lived the dream so many wished they had. Snake began his music career in 1978 with the band Snake Rock. In 1985, the band moved to Los Angeles and played in legendary clubs such as The Whisky-A-Go-Go and The Troubadour. However, the club scene became tedious and he decided to take a trip to Las Vegas for vacation and also to check it out. Eventually, he and his wife Karen moved here and Snake did reform the band for a few shows, but it just didn't work. Karen suggested he teach guitar and Snake took lessons himself, learning how to read music formally. He began giving lessons out of his garage and his business took flight. In 2002, Snake and Karen opened S & K Music, which offers a wide range of services, including: instruction, sales, repairs and recording. They've been at the current location since 2007. S & K Music offers instruction in guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano/keyboard and vocals and celebrated the grand opening of their state-of-the-art recording studio in February. S & K Music will showcase their students at the first annual piano recital on April 24. S&K have been clients of Stiles Insurance for over 6 years now making them one of the longest tenured clients. "Steve has always been a big supporter of our business and a dear friend." The respect is reciprocated. "I feel like they are a part of my family!" states Stiles. "My son took guitar lessons for over a year with Snake. You won't find a more patient, knowledgeable instructor."
